MASSIVENESS OF SOVIET EDUCATION BUILDINGS.
STATISTIC RESEARCH

The research indicates the typical kindergartens and schools constructed between 1950 and 1990 in CEE region. It starts with the now occupied Ukrainian city of Mariupol, three capitals of the Baltic countries Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn expanding to the majority of capitals of CEE. The aim is to reflect the current situation of soviet-era educational institutions in the capital cities of post soviet countries, after 33 years of independence and which could help to search for a common solution. This database is intended to raise awareness about the need for transformation and encourage discussions on the future of these inherited structures

“By realising the massiveness we can build the bridges between the cities and countries, sharing positive changes and kind solutions” says STATISTICS RESEARCH: THE MASSIVENESS OF SOVIET EDUCATIONAL BUILDINGS. Mykhailo Fedorov, vice prime minister of Ukraine.

“It is a shocking truth that we do not have such a deep common understanding of the enormous common challenge we share and that we are much more connected than we really think.” says Eglė Kliučinskaitė

“As we gathered data and talked to different institutions and people, we realised what now seems obvious - we hadn't yet decided that this massiveness was a common challenge. We will only be able to transform the massiveness in the way that it was created.” says G. T. Gylytė
