RtW invites three acknowledged European architecture offices who met during the Atlas research and common themes on socialist architecture transformations - KavaKava from Estonia, led by Siiri Valner and Archicon from Hungary, led by Csaba Nagy. All the teams met in Kiev for an intensive workshop for 12 principles and 5 types. The start of concept design.

After the Mariupol Reborn session in Vilnius, RtW and BCL pro actively started working on 5 most typical soviet-build schools in Ukraine. Laura Kairienė joined RtW and co-led the pitches. After six months of extremely intensive work and preparation with BCL and numerous meetings with the authorities and potential donors, finally it was agreed to sign the memorandum with the government of Ukraine in Kiev. RtW first time visits Kiev and signs the memorandum with vice prime minister Fedorov, Education sinister and the donors DTEK. Visiting soviet-build schools around Kiev.

Mariupol Reborn workshop was held in Vilnius, Mariupol Reborn initiative. Big City Lab (BCL), Pupa, Critical, Do architects and others were part of big scale ideas for reconstructing Mariupol after the Victory. Here, Gilma met Max Yakovelv, Natalia and Victoria Titova, future partners on 12 principles and 5 pilots. Gilma showed them Peledziukas' case in the outskirts of Vilnius. The idea was born to start Mariupol recovery from humanistic soviet school and kindergarten transformation. This would become a natural center for each neighborhood and gather community. It would be a powerful start, which could be completed and scaled fast. After the workshop RtW prepared research on Mariupol, mapping all soviet schools and kindergartens and it was the start for Statistics of Massiveness. The most popular type was proposed to transform into a humanized space fostering community.

Egle suggested initiating Memory research based on memories of people who went to socialist kindergarten. The true is-memory are so similar between the countries because the architecture is the same!

In the end of Fall, research for the Atlas of Cases for best-practise soviet architecture transformation is started. Gilma meets Egle, gifted architect-curator who has just opened an “Apibrezti Esama” exhibition in Trakai, on authentic soviet inheritance. Gilma invites her to join the RTW team and research best transformation practices for the ATLAS. Soon Edgaras Volodyrwnco joins the RTW team. More than half a year they did research not only on projects but also the positive effect and the reasons behind them.

Lithuanian architects gather a community for the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities. ​​In June, 2022, RTW initiated the first international conference “Rebuild the Wonderful”. The speakers where architect and Kharkiv architecture school founder Oleg Drozdov, Mindaugas Pakalnis, chief architect of Vilnius, Dovydas Vitkauskas, layer and founder of SOS Ukraine, Viktoras Bahmetevas philosopher and Gilma Teodora Gylyte, architect. Colleagues and architects have joined the discussion Ruta Leitenaite, Vadim Babij, Sabina Grinceviciute, Rasa Ambrasiene, Heima.. They all shared the necessity about transformations and brainstormed how to move forward.

In the first week of the war, Gilma was thinking how we as architects can help Ukraine after her Victory. Gilma, born in Vilnius, then occupied by soviets, and with her 20 years of architectural experience, knew and recognised spatial propaganda in our cities. The time to act, the time to shift.
